Twinkle Toes

Blogging is a dangerous business for me: spending hours browsing online shops tempts me to whip out my debit card and click “order.” Usually, I gather enough self control to realize that I do not, in fact, need a sports bra with the city skyline printed on it or a bracelet infused with the Earth’s elements no matter how unique and cute they are, but last week I decided to be a little frivolous and indulge my impulse!! I bought a pair of grey sandals from Zara after I found myself repeatedly clicking the link to their page on Zara’s website in a previous post of mine.

The shoes only shipped to my house last week, and I’ve already worn them 3 times, earning me the nickname Twinkle Toes by some friends!  The first time I wore the shoes was also my first day of work (ah!), so they were an instrumental piece in my very important first-day-of-work outfit. I opted for a simpler outfit with minimal accessories since the sandals are bejeweled. I lovingly refer to them as foot jewelry.

I am an intern at CoCommunications Marketing and Public Relations where I mostly scour online and print publications for articles published about any of our clients. I really, really enjoy my job; I am learning a lot about what works and what doesn’t in the marketing/public relations field, which is my intended major in college.

All of the girls at the office are very stylish, but not business-formal, which was perfect for me. I fit right in on the first day in my dark wash chambray shirt (similar), black ribbed jeggings (similar), and flashy sandals. I even got a compliment on my jewelry (bracelet and watch)! I couldn’t ask for a better work environment, and my coworkers are so helpful and friendly. We’re running a corporate 5k tomorrow! (I am very excited and very nervous at the same time, yikes)

Halo Braids & Haiku

“The last thing I want to do is lay on the couch and sleep all summer,” I said to my parents at the end of the school year. For fear of sleeping away my summer, I loaded up my schedule with internships, activities, and travel. I’m glad I did so because I want to get the most out of my summer, so while people are watching tv, I’ll be gaining experience and knowledge.

The past three weeks at the Fashion Institute of Technology have been absolutely fantastic; I hate knowing that tomorrow is the last day of class. The class work has kept me busy but I’ve learned so much and I’ve made incredible friends!

To FIT I wore my light wash chambray shirt with my pleather skater skirt, both from forever 21, converse, and a Charlotte Russe necklace. I knew it was going to be another unbearably humid day in New York City, so I wanted to put my hair up. I always put my hair in a high pony or a top knot, so I wanted to try something new: a halo braid. I saw a great tutorial video that showed me how to do it. (I might make a how to post about it…!) It was super easy to do and it stayed in place all day!

After coming home from FIT, resting, and flipping through Vogue, I went out to dinner with some friends from school that I haven’t seen in forever! We went to a fantastic Japanese restaurant called Haiku; we caught up with each other over edamame and sushi and left feeling full and happy!
