Four Looks, One Post

One thing I absolutely love about Fashion Institute of Technology is that when I’m there, I don’t feel like I’m at school. I’m learning, but I’m not bored. I can’t say that honestly about some of my other classes at high school (my precalculus teacher was particularly awful this year). When I’m at FIT I feel not like a high school girl at a college, but like a girl at the right place at the right time.

Since it is the Fashion Institute of Technology, I love styling myself in a way that’s fun, trendy, and a little nicer than something I’d wear to high school. I opt for skirts in the warmer months for they are so easy and look casual in a very put together way! Also, pieces with bright colors are definitely my favorite to wear. I can’t clearly define my style yet, and I think that’s a pretty good thing. One day I’ll wake up and think, “Hm… I want to look very Kate Spade today,” and the next I may think, “I’m feeling very John Paul Gaultier.” I always dress with a theme in mind, though.

Monday I wore a Forever 21 sheer polka-dot shirt with a yellow miniskirt from Old Navy (it’s surprisingly cute and quality)!

Tuesday I paired this etherial ballet pink chiffon skirt from Ann Taylor Loft with a floral top from Forever 21. The eggplant bag is H&M and obviously the shoes are Converse!

Hump-day aka Wednesday I was going for a leather and lace look (which was kind of a mistake since it was steaming hot in the city). I adore this floral short with lace shoulders from Marshall’s! My pleather skirt is from Forever 21 as well as my headband!

Lastly, Thursday I wore a black and white aztec print shirt from H&M with black lace shorts from Nordstroms, the eggplant-colored purse (my favorite purse!), and royal blue studded flats from Kohl’s!

Combat Boots, Finally!

Hey dolls,

Recognizing trends that have enough substance to last a while is a little difficult. This rocker-glam trend that started growing in popularity about a year ago definitely had the potential to stay around for a long time. I had mixed feelings about it at the time (because my style is quite girly) so I decided to hold off on buying these “rock glam” clothes.

Since then, I’ve grown to LOVE the trend. I can’t get enough studs and leather! On Sunday I bought my first pair of combat boots (GASP, I know I’m late) but they are so comfortable and I love them! The boots I bought are Troopa by Steve Madden in a distressed mahogany color. They’re perfect, yay!

Here’s a pic

Lots of love,
