Twinkle Toes

Blogging is a dangerous business for me: spending hours browsing online shops tempts me to whip out my debit card and click “order.” Usually, I gather enough self control to realize that I do not, in fact, need a sports bra with the city skyline printed on it or a bracelet infused with the Earth’s elements no matter how unique and cute they are, but last week I decided to be a little frivolous and indulge my impulse!! I bought a pair of grey sandals from Zara after I found myself repeatedly clicking the link to their page on Zara’s website in a previous post of mine.

The shoes only shipped to my house last week, and I’ve already worn them 3 times, earning me the nickname Twinkle Toes by some friends!  The first time I wore the shoes was also my first day of work (ah!), so they were an instrumental piece in my very important first-day-of-work outfit. I opted for a simpler outfit with minimal accessories since the sandals are bejeweled. I lovingly refer to them as foot jewelry.

I am an intern at CoCommunications Marketing and Public Relations where I mostly scour online and print publications for articles published about any of our clients. I really, really enjoy my job; I am learning a lot about what works and what doesn’t in the marketing/public relations field, which is my intended major in college.

All of the girls at the office are very stylish, but not business-formal, which was perfect for me. I fit right in on the first day in my dark wash chambray shirt (similar), black ribbed jeggings (similar), and flashy sandals. I even got a compliment on my jewelry (bracelet and watch)! I couldn’t ask for a better work environment, and my coworkers are so helpful and friendly. We’re running a corporate 5k tomorrow! (I am very excited and very nervous at the same time, yikes)

Shout-Out to Sandals

Since when did frumpy sandals become necessary wardrobe staples?

Every day, rain or shine, hot or cold, my biology teacher wore faded tan sandals with old white socks to school (not kidding. every. single. day.). The general opinion of his choice of footwear was negative; there were some days when the words “frankenstein feet” were uttered more than “binary fission.”

In the two years since I took bio with Mr. Frankenfeet, that style of sandal had quickly transformed from uncommonly ugly to decidedly desirable. Shout-out to sandals for doing what every teenage girl hopes to do from the time they’re in middle school to the time they’re in high school! Their image turn-around has been so successful that practically everyone, including me, is currently on the hunt for pair of sandals (my mom already bought a pair! She’s ahead of the game).

While I was shopping around for the perfect pair, though, I was shocked at the amount of variation: some were color-blocked, others had gems, and a few were platforms! So, instead of looking for a pair of shoes to buy, I have to decide which pair I will buy (oh boy, decisions).

Here are some (of the many pairs) I’ve found online!

For the edgy:
